Start with one color you like and generate a palette around it using classic color harmonies from color theory. The base color stays in the palette and is marked, so you can see where you started.
Add a photo, logo, or design and the generator extracts its main colors as a palette. Choose between 4, 6, or 8 colors depending on how detailed you want it.
Copy a list of HEX codes, copy CSS variables for your stylesheet, or download the palette as a PNG to share or keep. Every color also shows its RGB and HSL values.
You do not need design software to build a color scheme. Use the online palette generator by following these simple steps.
In From a color mode every harmony creates a palette of five colors. In From an image mode you choose 4, 6, or 8 colors, and images can be up to 20 MB.
Color harmonies are classic ways of choosing colors from the color wheel so that they look balanced together. The generator offers six of them.
When you add an image, the generator looks at its pixels, groups similar colors together, and picks the most common colors that are clearly different from each other. This is why a photo of a sunset gives you warm oranges and deep blues rather than ten near-identical shades. Transparent areas of an image are ignored.
Because the result depends on what is in the picture, a busy photo may produce a palette that is dominated by large background areas. For a more focused palette, crop the image to the part you care about first.
A palette tells you which colors go together, but it does not check readability. When you use colors for text and backgrounds, make sure there is enough contrast between them.

Choose From a color, pick your base color with the color box or type its HEX code, and select a color harmony. The generator builds a five-color palette around your base color, and you can switch harmonies at any time.
Switch to From an image, then upload a picture, drag it in, or paste it with Ctrl+V. The generator extracts the main colors and shows them as a palette. You can choose between 4, 6, or 8 colors.
A complementary palette uses colors that are opposite each other on the color wheel, such as blue and orange. The strong contrast makes each color stand out, which is great for bold designs and call-to-action buttons.
An analogous palette uses colors that are next to each other on the color wheel. Because they share similar hues, they blend smoothly and feel calm and harmonious.
A triadic palette uses three colors spaced evenly around the color wheel. A split-complementary palette uses your color and the two colors next to its opposite. Triadic is more varied and vibrant, while split-complementary keeps strong contrast with a softer feel.
A monochromatic palette uses a single hue in several lighter and darker versions. It always looks consistent and works well for clean, minimal designs.
